it's just that i heard a lot of weird stuff is going on in jeopardy. i mean a lot of people think jeopardy is weird but this is DANGEROUS weird

are you talking about the earthquake? it was quite unexpected, apparently!

well, there's that... but a lot of things are popping up that shouldn't really be here like did you hear about those maran things? some guy on the network was talking about how they could mess you up pretty bad

[Utena leaves her house as soon as she sends the message, but despite her best efforts, it still takes her some time to get through both sides of the Porter. If anything gets her to finally register, it will be getting fed up with all the stupid paperwork she has to file. She puts those thoughts aside once she gets close to Anthy's house, and she takes a deep breath as she rings the doorbell]

Welcome, Utena-sama.

[ Anthy answers the door immediately, as if she'd been waiting right on the other side, smile in place. As she greets Utena, she moves aside to allow her room to swap out her shoes. Since their last visit here, Anthy's purchased a pair of house slippers that are clearly meant to be Utena's, pink and embroidered with little, red roses.

The kitchen's visible from the entranceway, and there's a pot of tea and a plate of cookies at the ready. If there's something weird going down in Jeopardy, it doesn't seem to phase Anthy much at all. ]

Was your trip over all right?

[Utena takes off her shoes and quickly slides into the new slippers, sliding into their old routine in the process. There's tea and snacks ready for them, Anthy waiting for her at the door, and if not for the news or their surroundings she'd almost feel like she was back home]

It was all right- or as all right as it ever is. But what about you? Is everything okay here?

[Everything seems okay (better than okay), but still. It's a question that must be asked, regardless of how safe and homey Anthy's house might seem.]

[ Anthy nods and hums to the affirmative, closing the door and starting towards the kitchen. Utena's already brought up the earthquakes and the sudden appearance of animals and places... So she does take a moment to reflect that concern. ]

Apart from the earthquakes and the new bits of setting, it's been fairly normal. I think the atmosphere of the town, and the rumors, may just cause people to worry more than they should.

[ Jeopardy is a little unusual, for certain. It can unsettle people, which Anthy finds at least marginally charming. ]

Let me pour you a cup of tea.

That would be nice, thanks.

[She follows after Anthy, but isn't ready to get completely comfortable yet.]

But people aren't just worried because it's Jeopardy. It's-

[She cuts herself off and looks down, not quite sure how to continue.]

A lot of stuff has happened since I got here. I thought Ohtori could get pretty crazy sometimes, but this... this place is different.

Mm. [ If nothing else, she can agree that this place certainly isn't like Ohtori. ]

I've heard that there's a goddess here. Well, it seems that Jeopardy has its own goddess, and this world... It sits in conflict between the Fates. [ She sets a fresh cup of tea in front of Utena and moves to pour herself one. ] I think that's how it was told to me, at least. Something like that.

It seems there are many self-proclaimed gods here.

[Self-proclaimed gods. That phrase is enough to make Utena freeze, to stand completely still for once in her life, and she narrows her eyes as her lips twist into a scowl. She's not thinking of the Fates or Jeopardy or anyone so high and mighty; her thoughts turn towards those who are guilty of more banal and mundane horrors.]

You don't know the half of it. There's some imPorts who think pretty highly of themselves - they're one of the reasons why this place is so miserable.

[Welp. So much for the happy reunion.]

[ Oh. That's an interesting reaction. Good. Anthy pinches her brows in an expression of concern and frowns slightly in reaction to Utena's scowling. ]
